O.P. Explorer.exe taking it's time
The past few days when I've been logging on to Windows and explorer.exe is taking about 60 seconds to load.

It's not like there are loads of programs that are causing it to lag. All the programs are loaded in a few seconds, but explorer.exe just takes ages to load. Nothing is going slow, there is hardly any programs on msconfig and it was fine before, they all loaded quickly with the same programs ticked ?

Any ideas why it's taking so long to load?

No, he's totally right. I'm not sure what the problem is Chris, but my very clean win2k installation takes two minutes and forty seconds for the start button to show [too many live updates installed, perhaps]. It's not that explorer takes ages- you can check this directly by killing it through the task manager.
was put impeccably into words at DebianDay for me last Saturday, by Knut Yrvin of Trolltech - adults try something once, fail, and then are like "ffs this doesn't work". Children try, fail, and then try again, and succeed - maybe on the second, or even fifth retry. But the thing is that they keep at it and overcome the problems in the end.
