i downloaded Pop Goes the Gmail but I haven't figured out what to type into the POP3 section of Plus!  I also haven't found on PGtG any suggestions to try.

according to the PGtGM program...

Email address:
  [Your full gmail email address]

Incoming mail server (POP3):
  localhost

Username:
[Your gmail username, without the @gmail.com part]

Password:
  [Your gmail account password]

I suggested this also, and would prefer it to using another program. Currently the gmail helper is the best program I've seen with its own little popup.

FukAFly, can you explain yourself a little more on what you are clicking to make the gmail window open. Does this only work with the firefox browser?

It is just yet another program that you can run in the background for gmail users....
It opens up your mail account on gmail in your current default browsers. Fukafly's default browser is FFox....

When I click on the link so I can go to my inbox "which I have listed as a link to a webpage" it opens up Thunderbird "my default email program".

How do I change this without changing my default email program?
