O.P. Speedstream 6250 port forwarding
I have a Speedstream 6250 home networking modem, and want to open ports for various things. I have a static ip, and know how to open the ports in the modem.

The problem I can't seem to solve is after a time the ports I set clear. I set up maybe 4 or 5 entries. When I check the list a couple hours later, it's completely clear of any entries.

I've scoured the webbernets for a solution to this problem to no avail. Of course, the ISP (Bell Sympatico) is of no help solving this even when I get a tech support agent that can figure out how to work their headset properly.

Anyone know how I can stop the modem from clearing my list of open ports?

Thanks in advance.

I'm guessing you didn't bother reading my post. Otherwise you would have known that I already know how to do all that.

My question was regarding the fact that even after forwarding the port properly, the setting is automatically cleared after an hour or two. I'm pretty sure the setting isn't supposed to delete itself, but portforward makes no mention of that, and the ISP doesn't know what the hell they're doing it seems because they are of no help either.

I think the ISP has their modems do this by default. I just got back from setting up some stuff on my friend's computer, and had the same problem when trying to open ports there.

Same ISP, same modem.

well then in theory if you reflash the firmware it should fix it, the isp can not reset your modems config with out your knowing but they can block stuff at your end, try some official firmware, or you could try http://www.dd-wrt.com/ but your router isn't on the supported list

Hmm I tried the files in that thread, and it works. Kinda. I can see all the options my ISP hid from me, but clicking on them gives me an invalid URL error.

It might be a firefox problem though, but the article says you can use it in firefox. Weird. I'll try in IE I guess.

EDIT: yep, it was a FF problem. A couple of cool features are present. Haven't found anything useful to my cause yet though.
