I'm about to delete 26% of the registered users on this board. Any objections?
The following conditions must be true in order to be deleted:
1) The user has never made a post.
2) The user has not logged in after March 2003.
Advantages of pruning:
1) Less wasted space in the database and on the member list.
2) More usernames available.
3) Possibly better database performance with less records to keep track of.
Disadvantages:
1) Of course, accounts will be deleted. If one of the deleted members actually remembers these forums, and even remembers their password, they will have trouble logging in.
2) The number of total users will go from 28000 to around 20000. I could work around that by making sure the number of deleted users is always added to the total, if you think that's a good idea. I don't really care about showing off how many users we have, but maybe you do.
