Well, I was replying to new moderator?, but some ugly men seemed to close it before I posted.

I was suggesting a way to let Elites have some control over spammers.

If a spammer joins the board ans starts to spam indiscriminately and there's accidentally no mod+ around, all we can do is report them. But nothing will be done until a mod+ gets in and checks over the reported posts.

My suggestion is to give Elites the power to block some member from posting.

If elites get to report say 5 posts from a certain member, this member is automatically blocked being unable to post, but able to read. Until a mod+ checks over the report queue and releases or bans the member.
May not be 5, I'm not sure what amount of posts could be considered as dangerous or at least as "really annoying".

Anyway, just an idea I thought up. Probably bullshit, but thought I'd make you know, though.

Hmm I don't think this is really a good idea... (apart from the fact that the powers that be (j/k ) won't like it.

If it's necessary, more mods would solve it, but having a large group being able to ban people from posting... I don't know, I'm not sure...

Which is why I haven't replied to this thread.

My main problem is disabling their posting. I hate having to deal with different usergroups, so I'd rather just ban them. Maybe a number of elites could = a mod, and initiate a regular 24-hour mod ban.

Yeah, plus if you'll give this kind of privileges to elites (banning people), I think it's more rational to let them (or some of them, whatever) delete, split, close, move posts, etc.

I meant adding more mods instead of giving part of the mod power to all of the elites.

why dont u have a post moderation thing like in Invision.

An elite can put someone into post moderation, for an hour, and other elites/mods/admins can moderate their post.

That's all very well, except for the fact that it effectively makes the elite members moderators, and as you saw in the "new moderator" thread, moderation is pretty well covered at the moment.  So basically, there's no point.
