O.P. Grin  [Solved] A few problems
There are a few things with my computer that have been bugging me for a while now...I wondered if anyone can help, I've ran out of ideas...

1) In every account, except mine, icons are displayed properly, however in my account they have a strange colour around them...This also happens with the My Music folder and My Pictures folder, any M$ icon, except other folders and files ect. But sometimes it does affect these...also I have changed back to the default XP themes and styles, but no luck...

The colour changes with the visual style I use...But I am the only one on my computer who uses a visual style so that may be the cause...How can I get the icons back to normal?

2) Autorun has been acting up, no matter what the application I use is (DVD drive, DVD-RW drive, Digital Camera, MP3 player and smart cards) no autorun will be executed even if the correct autoruns on the disk, or I have windows set up to do something when an application is connected or a CD put in drive...All seems to be set up to work. And again this is only in my account...Any ideas to get autorun back and going?

3) Like a moron I accidentally deleted the Internet icon from the start menu. So I simply pasted the Firefox icon back, now this may sound petty but I miss having the bold "Internet" sign above and the smaller Firefox below, I thought it looked neat, Now it's just plain old Firefox, I attached a picture to show what I mean....any ideas to get it back to the original with the word "internet" in bold?

I'm using  Windows XP 5.01.2600 SP2, although these problems were also on SP1...and I know that they all could be fixed by making a new account for myself, however I don't wish to do that as I don't want to have to get all the current working settings in my account I like reset to default...

To anyone who reads this, thank you, any help is welcome...

I see that the text below them also has a background colour. I think this could be related.

Sounds logical. I have no idea on how to change it though.

Can't remember how to fix that, though I think I did it before... :-/
Edit: would this page be of help?

Right click the Taskbar, go to Properties, click the "Menu Start" tab, click Custom and change it.
I'm using the Dutch Windows version; names may be different.

First of all scan with an anti-virus.

Second:

#1: Control Panel > System > Advanced options > the first "Configure..." button > Enable "Show shadows under icons text on desktop"
Edit: You may also have changed something in the Icon interspace in screen setting, check it out if some folder names still override one line.

#2 See Tochjo's post ;)

#3 Select the properties of the shortcut and set in the name "Internet" and in the comments "Firefox"
Edit: I changed to the modersn Start Menu and I found out that Firefox is automatically set there. Tochjo was kinda right ;) ( right-click on taskbar > Properties > Start Menu > Configure... > General > Show on start menu > Internet > Firefox )

I was able to fix the 2nd and 3rd problem. However for the autorun problem I required another application that fixed the job very well, since GiantSpider may also like this application I attached it...
And Tochjo's advise for the third problem worked...Thank You...

However Keystorm's advice (slightly moded on account of English version) didn't work, in fact I disabled all the options and it didn't fix the problem. So I don't think that's the problem...It isn't a big problem but I really would like it back to normal if anyone has any ideas, thanks.

Edit: The problem with the icons only occurs when on the desktop...

.exe File Attachment: AutoFix.exe (76.33 KB)
This file has been downloaded 93 time(s).

To fix the desktop icons problem:

Open System Properties in Control Panel, choose the Advanced tab, and click Settings in the Performance section. Turn on the Use drop shadows for icon labels on the desktop option, and click Ok.

It is enabled; I disabled them all, and then turned them back on. But to start with they were all enabled...But it still isn't back to normal
