an easy way to do it is installing the colornick V2 plugin

Or u can do it manually following these instructions:

a normal colour name?

In a conversation window, type /nick
hold ctrl, and hit K
a box of colours will appear, pick one
a character will appear from hitting ctrl k, and once you choose a colour the represent number will appear beside it.
type your nick after.

/nick (ctrl+K) [character]# nickname
