Actually: You don't need Windows XP anymore - Windows has released a sumpliment program for Windows 98 or higher, so search around for the version of "Remote Assistance" for your PC.

However, what does exist is
"remote desktop client", which can run on win98/win2k. But that is something entirly different. Also with the "remote desktop
client" software you still can only remotely access a "desktop" on XP Pro or Windows Server200x, because that are the only OS's which have the
host/server-application. And remotely access means access, not sharing (like you can do in "remote assistance")...
So, don't confuse "remote desktop" with "remote assistance" (the confussion is easly done though). They are two different access models. What he wants is "remote assistance". And AFAIK that can only be done with XP (or with any of the special softwares available)...
