O.P. winhost.exe
k so my msn is being retarded and both my anitvirus and spyware software are telling me that there's a file on my computer called winhost.exe that contain the worm bropia f.1 but neither of them actually delete the file :S

now here comes my question: is it ok for me to manually go delete that file or is there something else i can do about it? any help would be greatly appreciated because as of now, i can't use file transfer or my webcam on msn. this is traumatizing to the 100000000000 degree :$

RE: winhost.exe
winhost.exe is a hijacker which means it will intermittently change your Internet Explorer settings / Desktop to the link of it’s author’s sponsors. This program is usually installed through consent, however is sometimes packaged as another product. It is a registered security risk and should be removed immediately.

Try using a spyremoval program such as Spybot or Ad-ware :), i wouldn't delete the file, because to get rid of it, it might require that file

Also look for the virus name at Symantec Virus Removal

Hmm k i'll try spybot.

btw, i don't quite understand how why that file would be needed to actually get rid of it :S . would it be too much to ask for an explanation? *-) :$

No, not at all lol ... some programs to uninstall require a program to uninstall it... i know it sounds silly, but it's the way the uninstaller was created. I deleted a program manually once and now when i try to uninstall it is says "could not find the main class. The program will now exit" and my uninstaller closes and i can't uninstall the damn thing... bugger!
