This new build, internaly known as MSN Messenger 7.0.0803, introcuces the MSN Mobile Messaging feature that utilises SMS technology to send short and to the point text messages from a cell phone. With this new feaure you can communicate with a "Mobile" friend by adding a mobile number to an existing contact, or if his/her cell phone does not have a MSN Subscripton or a Messenger client installed (view sceenshots below).
MSN Mobile Messaing is not free. Customers need to purchase credits before being able to send SMS messenges from MSN Messenger. Via a secured website, you can buy packs of SMS messages for €3.99 per 25 messages. Credits are stored in the Microsoft Billing System under your .NET Passport account. Please note that the person replying from there cell phone to your SMS will be charged by there mobile service provider.
This new build was distributed to selected BETA-testers, and along with the oportunity to BETA-test a Free Gift Card, which works as a debit card to buy message credits online.
