I've gotten used to Winamp, but now my parents keep asking me to do stuff when I am on the computer so when they call me I have to open up winamp and then pause it.  The problem is, my computer is kind of slow and I am almost always listening to music.  So I was wondering if there was a plug-in that could control winamp from your contact list or chat window.  If there isnt I would greatfully appreciate it if someone would make one.

Anyways, I'm sure since you mention you're chatting on Messenger, that obviousely your keyboard works, so use the designated key functions to control winamp.

I think this might be for you.

if u r using 5.xx then u can use universal controller to control ur music play.. by universal controller, u can play, pause , stop, fwd, rwd, next song, previous song etc can be done without opening ur winamp window.. this could be done with combination of keyboard key...

to enable this feature in winamp , open ur winamp window press Ctrl+P and u will see a preferences window then go in Global Hotkeys then make a tick on Enable and enjoy the golobal hotkeys...
if u r unable to seee global hotkeys panel, then download the latest Winamp program and start the installer then in the choose component panel (in the installer) open the user interface components then make a tick on global hotkeys support .... (the other compponents depends on ur usage and ur need..) then complete the installation and start playing with global hotkey. if still it dont work, then follow the insrtuction given above.. and if u find any problem then post ur problem...

NOTE: msn is not require to be run .. because it is only associated with winamp and not other program or window is necessary to be run except winamp program ..

This is not completely right. You can only use the keyboard shortcuts you quoted when the winamp window is active (so not when you're using i.E. MSN Messenger).
If you want to use keyboard shortcuts that you can use while ANY program is active, use the global hotkeys support. I use it myself, so I can control winamp while I'm playing games or working in Word for example. Note that you enter your own keyboard shortcuts in the global hotkeys window!

One of the options of global hotkey support is 'General: Copy Title', so when I'm playing a game, I can press (in my case) ctrl+shift+a and then ctrl+v (paste) to paste the song title I'm listening to.

Also, there's defaults in place (was with me anyway).

I think, as Vikku suggested this is the best option, it is exactly what curtis suggested.

As if the keys he mentioned in his quote are the global hotkeys, but they aren't
