How about having your name box in the contact windowdo waht the personal mesage box does when you click on it so you doin't have to go into options to change it. The dropdown arrow by it could open the menu so no functionality would be lost. The box size to write your new name in could expand aswell, if you have your contact list sized at very small dimensions.

That's a good idea, but I don't think patchou would do it because it's messing with the protocol, something Patchou likes to stear clear from.

This is perfectly possable with out touching the protocol.
Patchou can allready add buttons to the contact list, so all he has to do is add a textbox, and when enter is pressed change the nick.
The only hard part possably would be to only show the textbox when the names clicked, but im sure he would be able to

The protocol has nothing todo with this though. But it will mess with the GUI in a way Patchou also doesn't want to do I can imagine because this sounds more like skinning to me then anything else tbh.

If you look closer to the things which are added/changed by Messenger Plus! like this, you'll see that it are only things related to Messenger Plus! itself which are added, and that nothing in the original GUI of MSN Messenger is changed, replaced, etc (as that would be skinning)...

This should infact not be so difficult for the regular plugin creators to make... I would really like to see this plugin as I have thought about it many times before.. beacuse it's a pain in the ass to go to the options everytime... This is used in WebMessenger and I really like this... I might sometime spend some time on this.. but that is not going to happen right away...
