I know there was a mute plugin but I don't even think it's compatable with 7.0, and it never worked that great with 6.2 either.

Sometimes when i'm listening to a good song someone will send me a song or sign in, or msg me and it just get's annoying.

If there is away to do this already someone please tell me.

Just go into Messenger options and Plus options! and disable sounds and sound notifications.
Or set Plus! not to play sounds when busy and set your status to busy.

But I wanna easily switch on and off, with just a command, like the old mute plugin, thanks anyways.

put it into boss protection while you want it muted, you wont see anythign but there should be no sound

change ur status to BUSY..
and if u want  to set fast activation shortcut then goto plus > preferences > personalised status > status preset and set the shortcut for ur status...

busy doesn't disable all sounds does it?

It's not gonna disable the custom sounds and sign in ones.....

You can go to the Preferences panel to prevent custom sounds from playing when your status is set to Busy. The Messenger sounds (such as signing in) are automatically not played when your status is set to Busy

I also think that the Mute plugin killed/muted ALL sounds in Windows which is why I liked it

I suggested this that it stops your alerts when the music thing is showing and stops custom sounds without changing your status
