O.P. Desktop Contacts outside Desktop after Desktop resize
Problem:
Desktop Contacts not visible (outside Desktop) after Desktop resize

OS:
Windows XP Pro ENG SP2 with MUI
Hardware:
  Dell 840C Portable, 1400 x 1050 max screen resolution
MSG:
Microsoft MSN Messenger 7.0 and MSN Messenger 7.5 BETA Build 244
MSGPlus:
  Messenger Plus 3.5 Build 3.54.132

Reproduce Problem:
1) Set monitor resolition to 1400 x 1050 (or higher)
2) Create Desktop Contacts and put them in upper RIGHT corner (far RIGHT) close to max x-resolution
3) Resize Desktop to 1024 x 768 or smaller
4) Desktop Contacts not available on Desktop - but show up as active on Desktop when entering MSG Plus

Only way to access the Destop Contacts:
- resize screen to large resoultion,
- manually move Desktop Contacts to middle of screen
- resize screen to smaller resolution

You have no idea about what are you talking of.
This is caused because of lets say you placed your Desktop Contact insomewhere over the current resolution (X, Y).  So, when switching resolution, it puts it at the X, Y.  It is there, but isnt visible.

RE: Desktop Contacts outside Desktop after Desktop resize
I think patchou forgot about this kind of situation when he was programming the desktop contacts.

I decided to take some screenshots:

Desktop Contact at corner of 1280x960 screen

Desktop Contact missing on 1024x768 screen

RE: Desktop Contacts outside Desktop after Desktop resize
I don't think Patchou forgot anything, the problem is always there when you resize your desktop to something higher, then move stuff around. The only items that will move back are the icons, as they are a part of windows and are made to do this. Whereas, if you have any widgets (in this case desktop contacts), then they will hover in the same co-ordinates that they were when the desktop was larger...

RE: Desktop Contacts outside Desktop after Desktop resize
Why do you need to resize your desktop anyway...

also try resizing to 1024/768 or watever and restart your computer then put the desktop contacts on

O.P. RE: Desktop Contacts outside Desktop after Desktop resize
1) I need to resize the desktop since I am using several different external monitors, move from office to office several times a day.
2) A reboot/restart/re-login does not solve the problem - the contacts are not within visable area/range.
