O.P. Video instead of webcam ???
Hi,
Dont no if this goes in this topic, but a question for the tech guys...
Would it be possible to send video (mpeg/avi/wmv/streaming..?) instead of webcam images?????
(And if so? Why the ..... didnt you already build it in  )

you can use camtasia to show somewhere else on your screen...
(maybe a video playing in wmp or something?)
or you can also use a tv card to show whats on telelvision through the webcam thing...
both have worked for me... depends how far you want to go to get it to work really...

If you have a video card, I'd suggest that, seeing as Camstasia is really expensive.

if you got a device that plays those formats such as a digital camcorder with a memory stick that it can record onto then that also works, I once used my video camera to stream my holiday video over messenger. but thats going the long way around lol.

I believe he means streaming a video file over MSN instead of a webcam image.

What I ment was a piece of software that acts like it's a webcam, so you can tell messenger to use this fake-cam, and instead of sending live-webcam images, it sends a mpeg/avi/wmv etc thru msn.

couldnt you make a virtual webcam that you can "mount" video files on. Sort of like the way Alcohol 120% does its cd mounting?
