O.P. Junior Eurovision Songfestival [The Winner]...

For the 3rd time, Europe has had his Junior Eurovision Songfestival. This year, it was hosted in Hasselt (Belgium).

Candidates must be 8 to 15 years old and the author must take part in the performance as a vocalist or an instrumentalist. In other words: those youngsters write their own songs!

As I also often work with kids (in our own youth theater) I followed this with great interest.

This year, Kseniya Sitnik (10 yrs) from Belarus has won with the song: My Vmeste ("We are together")

So, many congratulations to Kseniya Sitnik (and all the others who performed extremely well (IMHO sometimes better than the "grown ups" ;))).

(y)(y)(y)

We are together

I see the clouds dancing
I smell the bread and milk
My land is that I fancy
We are the family.

Oh-ah-oh, when we are together
Oh-ah-oh, we are strong
Oh-ah-oh, let`s be friends forever
Oh-ah-oh, you can nothing alone

How marvelous this world is
How beautiful and bright
I am with you and we all
Will live under a peaceful sky.

Eurovision is not Junior Eurovision!

It is well known that in the Eurovision contest, politics play an important role and quite often the results can be easly predicted. Not to mention the plainess of most of the songs and stuff. Candidates also don't always get along and even sometimes are at a "state of war" (for lack of a better word)...

The Junior Eurovision is much different. Everything is held in a happy athmosphere. Candidates are all a happy bunch of kids, getting all along. Friendships are born etc. The songs are diverse as well as the quality of singing and performing. etc. This is also reflected in the many shows and "behind the scenes" stuff which is aired before. There's a huge difference between Junior Eurovision and "normal" Eurovision.

Anyways, this thread is not to discuss Eurovision. It is simply to give my token of congratulations to the winner and winning country. And to express my respect to those youngsters who do things which not many can and will do.

You don't like Eurovision, fine, don't reply :p

IMHO

Less lame then the regular eurovision that has nothing to do with contest or music anymore.

I've seen some of the Junior Eurovision Songfestival (guess it was from last year) and some of the the pre-rounds of the Dutch children. Very nice and there really are some talented kids out there. They write their own songs and can really sing.

Netherlands 7th, oh, at least we beat Belgium :p.

There is nothing exploiting about it. And there are very strong and firm rules about child labour in Europe which everybody and everything must obey to.

As I said, I work with children all the time in a youth theater company. I know extremely well what child exploiting/child labour means and what the strict rules are.

The Junior Eurovision is no more "exploiting" than any other contest for children.
