O.P. Sound mixing program
Basically, I need a program to cut toghter sound clips with. If it helps you more, I have recorded many lines and want to make a dialoge into one file. I would also like to be able to add some sound effects and cut the sounds. Freeware would be great, as I need it today. Thanks.

Audacity might be able to do what you want. And it's 100% free.

Download here.

Or as an alternative, take a look at Acoustica MP3 audio mixer. This is also a program which does exactly what you want (and in a very easy to use interface).

This is the same program which I used to create the audio clips in the thread "Post your voice!":

Note: Vilkku is not searching for the basic sound editors, he is searching for programs were you can combine many individual tracks together (just as you mix a movie with different soundtracks, scenes, etc).

you must pay for almost all those programs listed here; none are freeware (except for Audacity).

Audacity is stunning; as far as I'm concerned it's more than good enough to not buy a pro package.  Unless you need particularly pro effects, there are no drawbacks; it's incredibly simple to use (apart from the requirement of installing the LAME codec to export mp3) and has plugin support.

Also, after a year of silence they've just recently finally released a new version plus a public beta, so it can only hope to get better :P
