Unfortunately u might have a virus...

Try unplugging your PC from the mains .. den plug it back in after a few seconds and start your pc again  .... if it does work run a virus programe!

if not, when you do manage to log in run a virus programe anaway

hope this helps!

Okay, when your computer starts, press F8, so the bios management screen comes up, navigate that and change the Boot Order so that it's something like this:

1. CD ROM
2. Floppy Disk
3. Hard Disk Drive

Restart your computer and insert yout Windows XP disk, when this starts up and runs, don't press install new, press "repair". Then navigate your way so that cmd comes up (can't remember the exact way, but it's easy to get to). Then I think you type in "fixboot" without the "".

That should probably fix the problem with booting up your computer, if it doesn't then come back.

i get told to do that when my sky digibox freezes... lol!

I had a virus, my computer got past the bootscreen, and then went black and did nothing else.... in the end i formatted and it was fine.

Probably because the computer was running too hot and needed some time to cool down?

If he can't boot, chances are he won't be able to get into safe mode, as safe mode needs all of the .dlls to run, chances are one of these is corrupt.

RE: booting problem
I had this recently, and sometimes it got past the blue bars and went on to the login screen, but stuck with "Welcome" for hours.

I fixed it by persevering till it worked, then done a chkdsk c: /f from the command line, and let it reboot.

I tried using chkdsk c: /f from the windows recovery CD... but it didn't work :o.
