I'm searching for a nice program that could help me record a song from a microphone, and in which I could like add a symphony..  any ideas are appreciated.

Do you want to pay for that particular program? If you want, I'd suggest Adobe Audition.
Otherwise I don't have any particular program in mind that is free.

Microsoft Sound Recorder ?

Start > Accessories > Sound Recorder

Depends what you meen by record from a mic have you got an actual setup or just like a mic for gaming and what not...

Me and my mates use cubase for all our stuff...
