Hi people, i'm having a problem with windows live messenger. Whenever I sign into my hotmail e-mail account to check my e-mails without opening up or loading messenger, i'm signed on in messenger with my status set as online. It's annoying because my friends instant message me thinking im online, and of course i'm not. The same thing happened with msn messenger v7.5

Tools > Options > General...untick "Allow automatic sign in when connected to the internet"

Thanks for that reply sunshine, but that option was already unticked, and the problem's still occuring

Do the same in Windows Messenger too

And also remember the integration of webmessenger into Hotmail... You will see when you sign in your Hotmail (If you aren't using Windows Live Mail) Something saying online... You can use that control to message people on Messenger... But you can sign it out. I'm not sure whether you can turn it off though...
