But as it is with this specific article (and extremely many other articles on the net from random people), everything said in it, is absolutely incorrect.

The only problem is, it also adds spyware...
False, it never installed spyware, in any version. Ads are installed if the user choose it to install, nothing more, nothing less and nothing forcefully or automatically.

...and all kinds of annoying add-ons.
False, it never installed any other addon.
Installing plugins must be done explicitly by the user itself

I’m still working on the most tenacious one, the Lop.com trojan, even after uninstalling Messenger Plus!
It is not a trojan.
When uninstalled properly, without 3rd party tools blocking the sponsor uninstaller, everything will be gone.

From spywareinfo.com: "Patchou, the developer of Messenger Plus, has issued a statement regarding the complaints he’s been receiving due to his new “sponsor”."
That quote is extremely pulled out of context

Obviously, newer versions may have changed. I can assure you I never agree to installing sponsors when I install software.
False, every version from the first version which contained the sponsor to the latest Plus! Live version has always presented the user with the choice. Nothing was ever installed forcefully or automatically. There also never was a bug in the installation procedure which could result in an auto install of the sponsor. The sponsor can only be installed if the user explicitly choose it to be installed.

MSG+ doubtlessly has been forced to remove all the spyware because otherwise no one would want it.
False, there wasn't any spyware to begin with
