O.P. Suggestion - Saving custom emoticons to a folder?
Emoticons can be saved using WLM  - just right click > Add ...
But is there anyways of getting them to save to a folder apart from the Custom Icon Panel?

I have loads of custom emoticons but use different PC's and would love to be able to add them to all of them.  Being able to save them to a folder would be a great help.

Could something be added to Plus! to make this an option?

Try this to import/export them from one computer to another http://messengersays.spaces.live.com/blog/cns!5B4...30829E!25065.entry

Hi,

The information on that link seems to be quite alot of work just to share emotions on multiple PC's, especially for novice PC users.

But yeah, maybe a "Save..." context menu in the conversation window to be able to save them may be a small, yet useful feature.

Kind Regards,

It would also be nice if when you "Add" an emoticon from another user you could also copy it to a folder on your PC ...or have the option to do so.

Felu, thanks for the link (Y) but it does seem to be convoluted and no gaurantees that it will work.
I did find a CE/PD Stealer which sort of works but only with emoticons you receive in a conversation and not with your own ... so unless you can get someone to sit and return everysingle one of yours ... it's useless .... also seems to have quite a bit of Spyware attached to it 8-)

All which is said there is to copying 1 directory, that's all.
It is just explained in a very detailed way, that's why it seems much todo. But it is in fact just 1 simple copy/paste action.

It will work. It is btw the only possible way to do it. Any other program you'll find must use exactly the same method since that is where your custom emoticons are stored.

The reasons why they warn people is that it involves copying/pasting something from a folder you normally shouldn't be touching. Also, the directory can be slightly different for your system, so if you do everything literally as they said to do, it might not work. But the principle will always be the same thing.

I have tried it repeatedly but all I ever get is  "The system cannot find the file specified "   and the Messenger Content file remains empty :(

RE: Suggestion - Saving custom emoticons to a folder?
hi
just get them here
select the one you like
'save image'
save it to a folder
then
in your MSn toolbar
tools
icons
create
localize the icon on your PC
open
then write a shortcut .. for example  for a smile (so everytime you tipe in a conversation the smiley will appear)
ok
anyway writing a conversation you can click on the yellow face .. and select there the icon you want by a click .. so it will appear in the conversation, but learning the shortcuts it will be faster.

Actually, the thread is talking about doing the exact opposite.....it's asking for a way to save an emoticon from WLM to a folder.....the instructions you have given are the other way around

Not to mention the thread is two years old

RE: Suggestion - Saving custom emoticons to a folder?
Guys and girls, no need to get all complicated, just use this nice little utility:

http://concon.110mb.com/index.html

ConCon Messenger Content Retriever

It has all you need, you can backup easily your Custom Emoticons, Backgrounds, Dynamic Backgrounds, Display Pictures, Dynamic Display Pictures and Winks saving them as comfy .mco packages you will later can install on another computer (obviously first installing the ConCon on the other computer as well) with this same program it has a restore option that will use the mco files you created and install them like if you just downloaded content for the msn, you know like when you get a new wink from the web and such.

For the scenes you can manually save them in their natural .png or .jpg extensions and install them manually on the other computer.

This utility is also perfect when you need to backup your content if you have to format your computer, in that way you just install the msn again and just use this utility to restore your backup and presto! in just seconds you will have all your icons and winks like they were before you had to format your computer or easily use them on several computers where you have your msn account :D

Now as a bonus I'll leave you this nice gift:

http://concon.110mb.com/enmcoedit.html

ConCon MCO Editor, edit and make your own content pack. You can only add static contents from files (emoticons, backgrounds, display pictures). However, using ConCon Messenger Content Retriever you can make an MCO containing your dynamic contents (winks, deluxe display pictures, dynamic backgrounds).

So you can install several custom content at once (very useful for emoticons)

So now there's no excuse to be unable to save your content and use it on another computer with this nice utilities. :D
