O.P. Sharing Folders gives me Blue screen of Death
I've done some testing and research on this one. One day all of the sudden my computer started to blue screen crash then restart, then as MSN was starting up seconds after MSN connected it would blue screen crash again... I found out that if I didn't let MSN connect my computer wouldn't crash. I had been sharing files before with a friend, they were small sized files, and never had any problem of this sort. Just before the crash I starting a file sharing folder with some friends and threw a file almost 1 gig into it. Soon after the crashes started to occur and I was unable to use MSN. I found a fix that worked which was to go into the regedit.exe and delete the 'policy' file in the registry. After this my MSN worked and I was able to chat with friends as usual. Then a contact which I have safely used a sharing folder with before asked to share some files and I agreed. (All my previous sharing files and information seamed to be gone so I had to agree again to sharing with my friend) Once I agreed and we started a sharing folder my computer gave me the blue screen of death, and restarted again and again every time MSN was connected. So I feel this problem is related to MSN and it's sharing folders. I would love to be able to share files again with my friends using the folders, and use MSN. The Blue screen crash is always the same and restarts moments after saying that windows is protecting my computer from possible further damage in a memory dump. I hope there are some solutions for this problem, and that I came to the right place. Thanks in advance for any of your help.

it is probably a faulty memory/hardware thing in your computer causing it.. if you can, you can Google the error code.
just change the Automatically Restart option in control panel somewhere to unchecked then google the error code at the top. write it down so you wont forget

You need to go to Systems and then Advanced and then where it says Startup Recovery, click on settings and you can untick automatic restart, in case you are wondering, then you will be able to see the exact error.
I may be able to look up the error code, if you write it here, if you have not found out what it is.

RE: Sharing Folders gives me Blue screen of Death
Have you tried updating Windows Live Messenger? That is an old one, the latest is 8.1 (Build 8.1.0178.00). Maybe this would solve your problem.
I cannot help with your error codes, as the ones I can look up start with 0x000000 and then a letter or number or both, sorry.

The only thing I can say, there must be something conflicting with your machine. What Windows are you using, and have you made sure you have all the updates for it on your machine?

RE: Sharing Folders gives me Blue screen of Death
I'm getting the same thing, and its specifically when I've got some files that need to be sent through a sharing folder. Its crazy.
