RE: Better Processor or More Ram?
I'd get the one with 2gbs of ram, and it can share more memory for video, and because the difference in processor power is minimal, i think, let's see what others say.

RE: Better Processor or More Ram?
Well, the Future Shop link says it's sold out already.
IMO, the difference in processor speed is quite small, and not going to factor a huge difference in performance. On the other hand, you're doubling the RAM on the other model, and that probably will be noticeably different.
On a side note, the best upgrade to get for a laptop IMO is the hard drive. most laptop drives only spin at 5400rpm, compared to 7200rpm in a standard desktop. Both of these models sport a 5400 drive anyway, so this note is mostly pointless to this discussion. Meh.

Wellll...
Speaking of Video RAM, if you're getting a laptop with no video ram, you'll be kicking yourself when you try upgrade past Windows XP...
but anyway...get the one with more RAM. itll be way better.

RE: Better Processor or More Ram?
Get the one with the faster processor and put more RAM in if necessary.
You can't usually upgrade laptop processors.
Edit: Which is what you were thinking.

But which is also unnecessarily expensive when the extent of the computer's use is:

yes, but the cache is doubled, the FSB is faster, and, the T5250 has a newer architecture than the T2310.

RE: Better Processor or More Ram?
I'd go with the faster processor, and put more ram in seperatly. I find that most manufactures overcharge for ram/hdd upgrades in many cases, but you can't upgrade your own processor in a laptop.

In which case, 1 gig of RAM is sufficient either way, so it makes very little difference at all, at least with the processor, there is the *option* to upgrade.
