O.P. Graphics card
What should I get? £250-£300 max.
8800GTS 512mb still good or are the ATI HD 3800's better now?

RE: Graphics card
i like the 8800GTS so that would be my choice. I dont know much about the ATI card as i have never been a fan of ATI.

RE: Graphics card
8800GTS is one of the worst options to buy a graphics card. The 8800GT is cheaper and more powerfull. I recommend the 8800GT, or the 9600GT if you want more VALUE but less performance.
3800's arent as good, but have a few advantages, but still not as good over all. There good for a budget gaming PC

I would have to agree, the GT is much better than the GTS, and it is relatively cheap as well. I stated in my last post that the GTS is better, i would probably stick by that if we were comparing the GTS and the 3800, but that would be because im a nvidea fanboy

I was able to pick up my 3870 for $190 less than the 8800GT's were a few months ago and clock it slightly higher. Out performed my mates PCs in games like Crysis and Cod4 etc.. I wouldn't have called it budget at the time but now both the 8800gt and the 3870 are budget gfx cards.
Can't suggest what card you should get now because I really just don't give a shit now.

I dont think the 8800GT can be classified as a budget card, seeming as it is still one of the more expensive ones out there...especially the 512mb or the 1gb models

b) Don't get the 9600 GT. Its not worth it (so I've heard)
c) I like the 8800 GT. DX 10 iirc Not too costly, again iirc

Just because you have a job doesn't justify the cost. I for one wouldn't want to spend insane amounts on unjustifiable objects irrespective of how much I have in my pocket/bank.

I would hardly call $200 insane amounts of money I could have purchased 4 of them with this weeks pay.
