My system is Windows 7
I just downloaded Messenger Plus! Live. The MSN version I have is 2009.

However, whenever I go to apply a skin downloaded it gives me: The file you tried to load does not appear o be a valid Messenger Plus! skin pack.


It does it on every single 2009 skin I've tried to use. It recognizes 8.5, but 8.5 doesn't really work on 2009.

Any fix to this?

It sounds like you have some software conflicting with Messenger Plus! Live

Please check the following thread:

I don't have any of those programs installed on your list.

Do all other features of Messenger Plus! Live work correctly?

Which skins have you tried?

I've been using the features, tabs work excellently, the lock works as it should and so do the automatic away.

I've tried WLM ED Hardy, Stealth, Fuse, Ev0, and LTD

When I go to the Messenger Plus<Messenger<change appearance
it does say "Note: some skins may not work with this version of Messener"

Yes, it gives that message because skins for 8.5 won't work with WLM 2009

Are you running Messenger in compatibilty mode?

I had the messenger preinstalled with win7. I don't know what you mean by compatibility mode. Sorry.

And all the skins I mentioned were compatible for 2009 (9.0)

How do you attempt to apply the skins?

Just by double clicking the downloaded file?

Are they definitely downloading fully?

If you open them with WinZip are you able to see all of the files inside the archive?

When the downloads finish I double click on the name, gives me the pop up I first posted. Even when I go through the long way to import it gives the same message.

And it says I cannot open the downloaded skin as an archive.

You should be able to open them as an archive.

If you open Winzip and then drag the file onto it, it should open and show you the files contained inside.

If this doesn't happen then the file hasn't downloaded properly and will explain why it won't import into Messenger Plus! Live correctly
