install ubuntu from USB drive by floppy

O.P. install ubuntu from USB drive by floppy
Is it possible? I really want Ubuntu on my IBM ThinkPad T20 (which doesn't have a CD drive), so I've planned it out like this:

1. Laptop boots up, looks at floppy
2. Floppy says to mount the USB drive and boot from that
3. Ubuntu installs

So can that be so? what do I have to do? :/
