RE: Some n00b Questions
I've used PlaySound, and I think Messenger uses it too. I would recommend:
C++: Use the MCI library
VB: Use WMP
Both of these should be easy to use (not letting his own experiences and n00b skillz with C++ prevent him from telling the truth ).
