c:\documments and settings\<user name>\application data\microsoft\msn messenger\<number>\usertile" only holds your own display pictures, not of your contacts...
The display pictures (and custom emoticons) of your contacts are automaticly and always saved in your "
temporary internet files". The pictures are saved as
C<number>.bin and are actually PNG images... So if you clear the cache of internet explorer, those DP's are also deleted...
If programs like CE/DP stealer can't find them, then they aren't there (anymore), like Choli said...
