O.P. RE: Microsoft (somehow) supporting browser swap
No, but I'm sure Microsoft have they policies concerning Slate and what and can what cannot be said (like any private media).

hink that they maybe really discourage using Internet Explorer while they are developing a better version and think that it would be safer (after CERT's alert) to use another browser. Maybe they just told Bouting to defend Firefox.

If they did it them selves the company could collapse down, but if they tell it through they owned companies it doesn't look so bad.

Maybe Slate was told to write a review of Firefox to let people swap it for critical usage (IE is proved to be inadecquate), so why not?

I'm not claiming MS support Mozilla, but maybe they want to spot people's interest at it while they improve MSIE. They won't get much benefit anyway from Internet Explorer, so they basicly don't care much if the usage percentile falls from 95% to 80%.

Hope you got my point. ;)
