RE: Service pack 1 or Service pack 2?
I haven't installed SP2 myself yet, but here is what I would like to say anyway.

2) It literally forces you to restart your computer just after installing updates (if you choose not to, it will bug you about it every 10 minutes or so)
The point of an update is that it takes effect. In order to do this, you need to reboot. If you don't reboot, the update is useless. Therefore, this sounds like a logical thing to do.

4) The new security center is a pain, something that you'll choose to disable instantly after installing the SP. Here's why I hate it: I'm running Norton Internet Security 2003 with everything completely updated (this includes both firewall and antivirus), and the M$ security center was unable to detect this!
From what I've heard (don't hold this against me), the pre-release releases have this issue, because no correct program information was delivered by the program company. This should be changed in the final release.

Can't comment on other things yet :)
