And with MSN7 the emoticons in your contacts name are shown in the contact list.
So that would mean that you'd have to download the emoticon even before you'd opened a convosation.
Then it would be for a person that has a quick connection......
or (idk if this can be done) maybe the plugin can lower the quality so it can be shown faster...
Besides when my friends send me 10 emoticons i really dont notice any slowdowns....(256k/128k)
