That Messenger changes the verison does not mean that SS3 doesn't work anymore. Additionally Dempsey doesn't have a copy of Patchou's private alpha version of Plus, so I doubt he can do much about it.
Anyway, as it doesn't need to interact much with Messenger, I'm pretty sure it will work without having to upgrade it.
