This has been suggested some time ago by various people to implement directly into Plus!. I also would like to see the real status instead of the "(blocked)" text.
However, doing this as a plugin would be extremely difficult todo. (you need to hook the contactlist and change stuff there, without interfearing with what Plus! does (eg: custom statusses))
Besides the method explained by Kryptonate's, you can also look into the eventlog to see the real status of blocked people.
