Did you try using Messenger without Plus? Close Messenger and Plus (press CTRL+ALT+DEL and close msgplus.exe) and then run Messenger only, if it still fails then it has nothing to do with Plus. Maybe another add-on?

Also check Messenger Keep Disconnecting ~~~~~.
