Could you explain this further? The sponsor package will add a toolbar in Internet Explorer, some desktop shortcuts, favourites and change your homepage. These are quite minor adjustments (especially compared with what else goes around these days).
Also, the sponsor program can be removed easily by following the instructions given at
How to uninstall ad-ware/sponsor. Therefore, I don't see what you mean when you talk about horrendous malware
