RE: uxtheme
Does the original Windows XP blue theme work fine?
Maybe the Themes service got disabled somehow, go to Start > Run, type services.msc and click OK. Now look for the "Themes" service, double-click it, and make sure it's started and it's set as automatic.
If it still doesn't work, it could be the uxtheme patcher you used. Try with other visual styles and see what happens.
