This problem is indeed known to be caused by the handwriting plugin. I can't tell why your friend doesn't have the problem, but if you uninstall the handwriting plugin and the problem goes away, then it's (obviously) the handwriting plugin 
Actually, I dont think the handwriting plugin is the problem, because some messages can be sent, but after some time like chica said, they cant be sent.
Anyway, I dont know if the problem is fixed, because I had some time to have a conversation with someone (you know, homework...
)
