I think you're trying to record in stereo. Try to do it in mono (one single channel). And use a standar set of format parameters (8 or 16 bits/sample and 8000, 22050 or 44100 Hz (samples/second)). You can change those parameters in the windows that opens when you click the record button or when you create a new documment (File > new)
