probably because you're using a version equal or less then 3.25.106. These are only compatible with MSN Messenger 6.x...
To have compatibility with MSN Messenger 7.x you need the new Beta version of Messenger Plus!, this can also be found on the download page on

But as said by various people in this thread, the new non-beta Messenger Plus! 3.50 is going to be released wednesday/thursday (depends on where you live). So you might want to hold of a bit and wait till that official release. If you can't wait, then install
the beta for a few days
