Do you only get this on emoticons that come with MSN? like the :p :) :( :| :'( etc. Coz you can't copy those, as they are already in your MSN.

However, if it is custom emoticons then you should be able to right click and click Add.

Maybe try reinstalling from http://messenger.msn.com :)
