They make small ADSL modems that could easily fit in your pocket, with a few cables tied around them. If it was plugged into an ADSL activated phone line (and it
has to be ADSL activated) it could work. A few problems are;
1) Phone lines can't give enough power to your modem, a USB connection from a laptop or other device would.
2) There can't be another ADSL modem active on the phone line
3) Usually if someone has an ADSL line, they will already have a modem and\or router in their house.
