AFAIK basically what they do is that they search the page for all the key words and then if they find a link then they jump to it. Eventually they "bookmark" (or what ever the appropriate word is) your site so that if you search for any key word then your site shows up
You search for "John Anderton" and you'll probably find my profile for this forum on the 1st page (It was there last time i checked ) Some people having common names could put messenger Plus! In front of it but this is only an example. Please do not post "My name appears on page 'x' of 'y' search engine while searching for 'z'" Or anything on those lines
