No we can't. Before the MSN7 came along, we could see if someone opened a conversation window to us or if they closed it. Now, the same connection is used for downloading of DP etc.

So, we can't tell anymore. Unless the plugin/program/Plus! sends it's own little message to the other person (who must be using the same plugin/program/Plus!) it might work. But it can also make a mess of things.

I'm afraid this is can only really be fixed by the people at MSN. For now, you'll have to stick with the unreliable notifiers.
