RE: Turing, who hates it like I do?
It's a useful language and is easy to pick up. It's necessarily a building block for computer engineers. It's easy, textual and does what you need it to. And since it is so easy, it will help you learn other languages as the teacher is supposed to teach you the constructs of programming and how input/output, data storage, data types, variable types etc. work and how to use them. You may find it useless, but for those in your class that don't program, it's really a godsend.
I do like Turing, but don't like the fact that we're being taught something no one uses. I may be contradicting myself, but oh well.
Edit: The topic of this thread is the exact opposite of the poll...
If you haven't taken computer engineering, then you will have not heard of Turing. As far as I know it's a Canadian-only thing too.
