This does not apply to sounds on "message sent" (received), only notifications (online, offline, statuschange).
Soft666: You don't have to have login sounds. Click on the sounds button and scroll down to MSN Messenger and set the one for login to "none". By doing this you will still hear a sound when a message is sent but not when somebody logs in.
