I do not get it's purpose, for I can't understand the most of his English.

He is trying to say that you could show your online contacts from a specific group to a contact, not what the user will see in the contact list.

eg. (pretend the following is a conversation window)
My friend says:
hey who is online?
Me says:
"/xwonline <groupname>" Of course, instead of /xwonline <groupname> appearing, all online contacts in the group would be displayed

ie. the final result would be
My friend says:
hey who is online?
Me says:
John
Bill
etc
etc
etc
