my friend's computer has played up on him.
the computer boots up normally. BIOS is ok. the XP loading screen will show, but right before the Welcome screen, the screen will go black and only displaying the mouse cursor, which is moveable. I googled but did not find much. i found
this article and he tried the steps (FIXBOOT and FIXMBR) but its still not working. I told him to repair his windows installation, and he will get back to me. any ideas what has caused this and how to fix it?
[Edit] he does not have access to anything except for the BIOS menu
