try searching you computer if you them previously, sounds like you had it installed previously.

If worst comes to worst remove both WLM and Plus! delete the Folders "MSN Messenger" and "Messenger PLus! Live" in C:\Program Files\ and then reinstall both, if that doesn't help, do it in safe mode by holding F8 during startup and selecting Safe Mode.
