RE: FF themes
Normally it works the way you did. Are you using version 2.0.0.1? If so it could be the same problem as I had some time ago. I was unable to change the theme or modify some stuff like favorites (imported bookmarks.html, restarted and they were gone). I uninstalled and deleted everything of FF. Then installed again. Works now.
